Day 2- We Made It!

4:00am sure did come fast as we spent the night in Chicago. Most of us only had 4 hours of sleep. We woke up bright eyed, bushy tailed, and ready for the day. We all made it through security but one person, coach ells. Security took him into a little room around the corner where he ended up getting the pat down. Our big day of travels then continued as we boarded our first plane from Chicago to Miami. But before we could take off our plane needed further inspection pushing back our take off time by 45 minutes. Instead of taking off at 7:10am we took off at 7:55am.

We made it safely to Miami with no problems, only a few crying babies throughout the flight. Our group had no problems going to board the second flight, we played a little euchre, ate some food and we were off. The first plane was much larger than the second plane, making it a little less comfortable but we made due. The ride was good until we started our dissent. Our plane flew into a little storm, the plane shook, rattled a little bit, and went through some lightning but no worries we made it out and landed safely.

We arrived in Costa Rica at 2:35pm local time which is 2 hours behind Michigan time. We departed our last plane ride for the day and then found Anna, who had already rented out our car and only needed to get us a van for the week. Us guys and Ells went for supper at Rosti Pollo (Roasted Chicken). We had a very nice meal, meanwhile coach Strik was trying to get our van rented out so we could make the 3 hour drive from San Jose to Quepos. The drive there was absolutely beautiful, saw various landscapes, and loads of mountains. All 9 of us were crammed into that van for the 3 hour drive and we enjoyed every minute of it.

The best part of the ride for us all was stoping at a local soda an hour and a half away from Quepos to see crocodiles and feed them bread that we purchased at the soda. The soda is something like a local convenient store. We got some good pictures of the crocs and a few videos as well.

We finished the drive at 8pm local time, separated into our condos and took a swim in our pool.  Then we ate a little pizza and everyone was ready for bed. A long days travel took it out of us all but we are all so excited for what the rest of our trip.
